INTERIOR DESIGN MASTERS

I was one of 10 lucky designers to take part in Series 6 of Interior Design Masters, screened on BBC in the early summer of 2025, making it through to the semi-final. My design angle  for this show was to be the 'Vintage /Retro' guy, and to show how styles from the 20th Century are still relevant and cool. Take a look at the seven spaces I designed. The whole of Series 6 is available to view on BBC i-player.

EP 1 - YHA BEDROOM

The brief for Episode 1 was to create a bedroom in a Youth Hostel Association Building in Lake Windermere, Cumbria in the north-east of England. It needed to reflect the buildings history, be suitable for the end user (Ramblers)  but still showcase my own personal style.

EP 3 - RETIREMENT SHOW FLAT

I was paired with Briony for this challenge; We were asked to design a 2 bedroomed luxury retirement flat in the Royal Haslar Waterfront Retirement Village in Gosport, Hampshire. Two bedrooms, the hallway, the lounge and kitchen-diner all were to transformed! All in 2 days... phew!! We needed to work together to design a cohesive result, whilst still retaining out own personal styles. She is all about the neutrals, I'm all about the colours!

EP 5 - HOSPITALITY SUITE

The brief was to re-design a hospitality room at the legendary Twickenham Rugby Stadium. Our designs needed to allow for a buffet style food service with bar and offer a high end hospitality experience, whilst of course referencing the stadiums' rugby history.

Ep 7 - PERFORMANCE VENUE

For the semi-final , we picked cards for the venue we were to re-design. The challenge was all about re-designing performance spaces at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I got The Home Bar.

EP 2 - CONTAINER OFFICE

For this episode, we were in Bristol, (next door to the Concorde museum,) and were asked to transform an empty OSB (Oriented Strand Board) lined 40ft shipping container   into an office space suitable for a 4 person start-up company.  Sustainability was the theme so upcycling, re-using and natural products were the way to go.

EP 4 - DOG TRAINING ROOM

This brief was a little puzzling—we were tasked with re-vamping a dog-training room in the iconic Battersea Dogs & Cats home.. what should a dog training room look like? The brief told us it needed to be functional, washable, stimulating, but not overbearing....

Ep 6 - PAPER SHOP

Paired with John, this was the episode we all wanted to get to ..shops week. We were tasked with turning a tired artisan Indian paper and textile shop in Rye, into a destination shopping experience. I think we pulled it off, as we won 'Stand Out Space' ( the third time for me, an IDM record!)
